Gulati named Nemmers Professor

Ranjay Gulati, associate professor of management and organizations at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, has been named the Michael Ludwig Nemmers Associate Professor of Technology and E-Commerce.

Gulati's research interests are in inter-firm strategic alliances and in new economy organizational forms. These areas include strategic and organizational dynamics in the network economy, e-business strategy, strategic partnerships and acquisitions, and creating and managing webs of alliance networks.

He has received several best-paper awards from the Academy of Management. He has published extensively in the leading journals of his field and serves on the editorial boards of Administrative Science Quarterly and Organization Science and as guest editor of the Strategic Management JournalŐs special issue on Strategic Networks (2000). He is program chair of the Academy of Management's Business Policy and Strategy Division.

Gulati serves as research director of the new Technology and E-Commerce Group at Kellogg. In 1998-99 he received the Chair's Core Teaching Award.

Gulati came to Northwestern in 1993 from Harvard University, where he earned his doctorate. While at Harvard he held MacArthur Foundation and Sloan Foundation fellowships.
